Overseas Mercedes and 5-Series BMWs patrol the streets. Lexus cars have until now been serving the public but not the police force. A new Lexus cars proposition might change that. England is holding their police car buying conference next week and Lexus dealers are gearing up for a sales presentation.

America thankfully will not be moding Lexus cars for police use but the UK area might. Back in 2006, English police purchased one GS450h as a traffic cruiser according to Edmunds.com. The main reason UK police officers might make the switch over to Lexus cars is for their hybrid capabilities. You think gas is expensive in the states imagine paying over 6 dollars a gallon. Police cruisers are constantly on the move creating a huge petrol bill. Hybrids are definitely the answer.

Along with Lexus cars, the police convention will also hear presentations from Toyota, Volkswagen, Fiat and Mitsubishi according to news from Edmunds.com. Now even police officers are going green. Who would have thought?

This is the company’s small SUV that has not seen much styling changes since coming out years back. What the RX 350 lacks in the facelift department, it makes up for with cool new electronics. There are four different classes of this car available depending on the buyer’s price range. The bidding starts at 38,000 dollars and maxes out at 47,000 dollars for the Pebble Beach edition. I mentioned the Pebble Beach Lexus cars in a previous post, which will make the day of any golf fanatic.

Buyers have their choice of the less expensive front wheel drive version or all wheel drive for a few thousand more. Powered by a 3.5-liter, 24-valve DOHC V6 producing 270 horsepower with 251 lbs of torque this popular crossover has a little pep in its step.

Lexus dealers will tell you about the smooth electronically controlled automatic five speed and the ability stay comfortable no matter what surface is being conquered. The smooth ride can be attributed to the advanced independent suspension system found on many other top selling Lexus cars. Buyers will love this little baby from top to bottom.
]]> Thu, 21 Aug 2008 08:35:33 GMT <![CDATA[Lexus Dealers Introduce Pebble Beach Editions]]>  Lexus cars along with many other manufactures often create special editions to help support a cause such as the pink Mary Kay Cadillac or as a special edition such as the Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. Lexus dealers have followed suit with the new LS 600h L Pebble Beach Edition, which will include features disclosed today. Along with the LS will come the limited SC 430 hardtops with the Pebble Beach insignia.

The news was released today after a Pebble Beach show that highlighted the two vehicles, which will be made in limited quantities. There will be 50 LS 600h Pebble Beach Lexus cars made and 300 SC 430s. The SC Pebble Beach will come with a choice of three different prizes, which include a “Callaway Golf experience, travel package or Epicurean Encounter (canadiandriver.com).”

The LS will come in a special color, 19-inch wheels, new floor mats and blue lit scuff plates. Along with those new features comes the Lexus cars Pre-collision system to help drivers avoid people and hazardous objects, which is usually an upgraded feature on all other models.

Apparently superstar Dallas Maverick, Josh Howard was arrested on Thursday for street racing a black Lexus against a Volkswagen. Caught in his hometown of Salem, North Carolina, Howard was pulled over going 95 MPH in a 55 MPH posted speed limit street. Howard was taken to jail and then released for a court appearance on September 23 according to Lexus cars news from dallasnews.com.

40 MPH over the posted speed limit is a felony. Policed charged Howard with reckless driving and street racing. I recently had a friend pulled over going just over 100 MPH in a 45 MPH zone but he was not street racing. After many appeals to get rid of the felony charge, the price has added up to over 5,000 dollars. For Howard a fine will not be a big deal as long as he can keep his license.

I wonder what Lexus car he used to race? When Lexus auto dealers find out what car Howard was using, I could see some of them using the story as a selling point.

Lexus cars will hit the Filipino market by January of next year. It is nice to hear the Lexus auto dealers are expanding their international interests because it points to manufacturer success.

Having a brother who works for Toyota and a car created by Toyota, I have become a firm believer that Lexus dealers have some of the most professional and reliable cars out there. Japanese vehicle manufacturers are always on the cutting edge of technology, which translates directly into what we see today with Lexus cars.

Manila will get a host of different Lexus cars to choose from in January including the LS 460, GS 460, IS 350 and LX 570 for those interested in a SUV. From Lexus car dealers in New York to the Philippines, the company is showing a bright future. Lexus dealers sell more luxury vehicles in the United States than any other manufacturer. They are branching out to new market every single year.

According to sustainablebusiness.com, EPRI accounts for 90 percent of America’s electricity production. A partnership would mean more green vehicles for Toyota and Lexus cars and SUVs. Starting in 2009, 100,000 electric powered Lexus cars will be produced. Lexus dealers expect the unknown vehicle to sell similar to the Toyota Prius but with a more expensive spin.

There has been no word what these upcoming Lexus cars will be called but they will be available with a 2 or 2.5 litter hybrid engine. Other international news has stated that a Japanese Toyota plant in Fukuoka will stop producing the hybrid Highlanders in place of the new Lexus cars. This season of the Rolex Sports Car Series has seen one definitive leader so far and you can bet that Lexus cars are going to continue to dominate the pack as the season wears on. With a recent victory at Daytona Speedway, the Ganassi Lexus team is setting their sights on this weekend’s race in Barber Motorsports Park for the 9th race of the season. They are currently leading the pack by 40 points and have not showed any signs of slowing down.

If the team can finish third or better in the final six races then Lexus cars will be able to boast three Rolex Series titles. A Pontiac team is 6 points behind Lexus in the Manufactures championship. Watch for Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas this weekend while they command some extraordinary Lexus cars in Birmingham; this course has abundance of straights and sweeping turns.

I know that I still love the late 90’s GS models for their rear wheel drive, extremely stable chassis and ability to handle turbo upgrades. The new GS 460 is a 4.6-liter V8 beast producing 342 horsepower to the rear wheels. And for so much bulky sedan power the new GS gets 17 MPG while in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.

The transmission options are revolutionary to other Lexus cars with the available 8-speed automatic or auto-manual. The suspension is adjustable and the stability system is top of the line keeping this four dour monster pinned in place during high speed cornering and while launching. With a base price of 53,000 dollars, it is comparable to many of the other vehicles you will find at Lexus dealers.

The engine was taken directly from the LS 460, which competes against power sources found in cars like the BMW 550i. I suggest taking a closer look at these Lexus cars if you need space but also love rear wheel performance.

In total, 11 different Toyota and Lexus cars have reduced in price including the Prius, Rav 4, Highlander and all hybrid Lexus vehicles.

The catch to this price drop is that it can only be found in Canada. For those near the Canada-American border, it may be worth your time to go to our Maple leafed friends to the north in order to save anywhere from 1,200 to 7,900 dollars on a new vehicle.

There has been no word on American Lexus dealers following the Canadian decision to lower prices on select Toyota and Lexus cars but going a couple hundred miles north may be worth your while for the new vehicle savings. Canadian Lexus dealers decided to cut prices in order to promote the purchase of fuel friendly and low emission vehicles.

The Lexus GS450h Hybrid sedan is seeing a 1,900 rebate and the RX400h is 1,400 dollars cheaper when bought in Canada.

Being called the Lexus of Space Labs by Wired Magazine the International Space Station received a well deserved addition after the Space Shuttle Discovery recently docked with Kibo. Kibo is a Japanese space laboratory that rivals the luxury of Lexus cars. Adding 11,000 cubic feet, Kibo contains about the same amount of space as a five-story house. That is a really impressive number if you consider that the Space Shuttle

Discovery lugged it up to the Space Station.
As we speak, the space addition that rivals luxury found in Lexus cars is being installed. The space lab is 37 feet long, will have an outer porch with space arms, closet space and is 9 feet longer then the US Harmony lab on the space station.

Some are expecting the lab to have flat screen TV hook ups and WiFi connectivity. Lexus auto dealers should be pleased with this out of the blue compliment from space. I can see the car manufacturer using this quote for advertising. Being endorsed by any countries’ space program is a big deal.

According to news from Edmunds.com, Lexus Dealers will be seeing two new dedicated hybrids in 2010. The company is currently thinking about a premium version of the sister companies Prius and a midsized crossover vehicle, each being exclusively hybrid.

2010 may be too late if you ask me considering the average price of gas in this country is 3.79 per gallon. I figure that Lexus dealers generally only see a clientele that is well off so they are projecting that in 2010 even those in the middle – upper class will be concerned about prices at the pump.

The 2009 Detroit Auto Show will be the best indicator into what the new hybrid only vehicles will look like before hitting the Lexus Dealers show floor the following year. Toyota is releasing the newly designed Prius in the late Spring of 2009. The expected power plant under the hood of the 2010 hybrids will be a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gas/electric motor. If you are thinking about going to local Lexus Dealers in a couple years, expect the hybrid cars to be at least 35,000 dollars.

A Short History of Toyota
The story of Toyota is almost a fable these days. The company was founded by a family with the name Toyoda, but named Toyota because it was determined to be more appealing to customers. So even then, at the very beginning Toyota was customer oriented (according to the story). Eventually Toyota became known among consumers for making highly reliable cars that represented a great value because they were reasonably priced. Across the industry however Toyota became known for its Toyota Production System (TPS) which companies continue to try and copy today in a form known as Lean Manufacturing.

The Auto Market Before Lexus
In 1989 Toyota introduced a luxury brand – Lexus, and the car market has never been the same. Prior to this the various automobile manufacturers all had their core markets. Ford and GM span the globe, but made larger sized cars with powerful engines, and along with Dodge owned the full size truck market. The German brands BMW, Mercedes, and Audi represented luxury, the cars of the rich and famous, status symbols. Japanese cars were allotted the lower end of the auto food change. Teenagers, first time buyers, anyone who couldn’t afford real cars were target consumers for the Japanese manufacturers. Japanese cars were not considered as luxury competitors regardless of their features and amenities. The Toyota Cressida was first and foremost a Toyota despite its engine, interior, and standard features. A similar fate was bestowed upon Mazda’s Millenia and anything brought to market by Honda or Nissan as well.

Enter the Rebranded Dragon
Recognizing that they could not escape the image consumers had of them, Japanese manufacturers decided to launch brands in the USA that appeared to be separate companies. To the average customer Lexus and Infiniti were two new car companies competing in the luxury segment. In fact, to this day, Lexus cars are not sold and the brand does not exist in the Japanese market, they are Toyotas. The effect was that it was not Toyota battling Mercedes or Nissan against BMW, this is important because it is doubtful the Japanese manufacturers would ever have won in that comparison. Think about it, would you ever warm up to the idea of buying a Toyota for the price of a Mercedes? Even today that doesn’t seem to make sense.

What is being called a concept may be more aptly described as a paradigm shift. From its introduction Lexus has logged up one astounding feat after another. Along the way it has re-written the rules of competition and engagement in the auto industry. Here are merely some of the noteworthy accomplishments:
Quality – From it’s first year Lexus has dominated the JD Power Awards for Quality.
Sales – As sales continue to rise, none of the sales are from Toyota its parent company. In other words there is no cannibalization, Lexus is taking share from other companies.

I love a beautiful looking car and Lexus cars fit that description perfectly. They are designed with a catchy, eye appealing design that is noticeable as the vehicle drives by. From an onlookers perspective the curb appeal of Lexus cars is very high. Lexus dealers have the advantage of being able to sell a product that looks fantastic as well as having a high performance record. Not only are Lexus cars appealing on the outside, the interior design is extremely comfortable as well as classy looking. I have had the privilege of being able to take a couple of Lexus cars for a test run as well as ride around in the Lexus car that my nephew purchased. Lexus cars are designed with consumer comfort in mind. They have a spacious interior that feels roomy with plenty of leg room as well as body space in the passenger compartments.
